Solution Overview
We created a comprehensive self-service retirement planning application to replace a set of aging tools. The new application enabled customers to adjust variables to dynamically forecast their retirement outlook and immediately take appropriate action to achieve better financial outcomes.
The new application led to a 17% increase in unique visitors, a 28% increase in planning sessions and an 8point increase inNet Promoter Score.
My Role
I led a team of UX and Visual designers through requirements gathering, conceptual and detailed design. I was responsible for the overall plan and execution of the work.
Process Overview
We started by interviewing current customers and financial advisors to understand pain points with the existing toolset. We then created a conceptual architecture to support all functions of the previous tools. We then moved into detailed design. Given the amount and complicated nature of all the interactions required, we conducted multiple rounds of consumer validation to ensure our solutions were intuitive. In some areas of the tool, where appropriate, we moved beyond intuitive and created pilot 'playful' interactions.
